DON’T LOOK UP: I laughed. A lot. It’s a farce. Take it for what it is and enjoy.
In the beginning, I was frustrated because I’m conditioned to want the characters to act on the urgency of the problem. A farce leans into that creating tension and comic relief. In this particular film, the protagonists are us. They understand the gravity of the situation and keep us grounded while everyone else lives in a world of no stakes.
Meanwhile, we’re basically being told society is a joke from the highest of government positions to the mindless addicts to social media. The question is: Are they right?
I got bored somewhere after the midpoint. It started dragging a bit. But in the end, I smiled because they went for it!!! Yessss!
