MARE OF EASTTOWN: A note on killing off characters. #SpoilerAlert
The death means nothing if the character means nothing to us and/or the death of the character means nothing to the characters we’ve invested in.
So, we spend an entire episode getting to know Erin. When we find her dead at the end of the episode, we’re immediately invested in our protagonist bringing her killer to justice.
It’s sad to see her go. We like her. But she must in order to thrust us into the series.
